Why are we #1 and what can we do about it?
We are number one because of the amount of money that is being made here in Alaska and because of the way our government does business, negotiates deals and runs its budget with too much secrecy.
Mr. Parkin proposes that we give the people access into all aspects of our government. We will all be informed via text messages of Feedback Access Reports. Under his leadership as governor, no actions (legislation, committee hearings, board decisions, resource negotiations, major department purchase, actions of the governor, major court ruling ect...) will be happen without first sending out FARs to the voters who have optioned to receive them. This will not be time consuming, expensive or redundant.
Corruption requires secrecy with FARs there can be very little secrecy and therefore very little corruption.

The Grand Jury
Alaska's grand Jury is under attack!
The Grand Jury is the last line of defence for Alaskans. The constitution of Alaska created the Grand Jury and gave Alaskans direct access to it. (Direct access is a great thing!) The duty of the Grand Jury is to investigate all three branches of government if necessary should they be accused of wrongdoing by the people. To do this their power is unrestricted. The wise writers of our constitution did this so Alaskans would have a voice and weapon to fight corruption. Is it any wonder that the corrupt within our state government that has been ranked #1 in the nation for corruption would want to get rid of such a weapon? Regardless of intent, or misunderstanding that may have been involved, here is what has happened. The supreme court of Alaska has ruled that the people can no longer have direct access to the grand jury, but that they must submit their complaints to the attorney general. He/she/they will review the request and decide if the grand jury will receive it. Now one man has the power to decide for all Alaskans. Even if the whole legal department were to make the decision, it would be a subversion of the rights of the people of Alaska. The Supreme Court has also establish a set of operating rules for the Grand Jury that it must follow in their investigations of corruption or other wrongdoing. Many have gone along with this ruling because the Supreme Court is said to be the law of the land. This assumption is incorrect. How can the Supreme Court be allowed to set rules over the Grand Jury when it is the Grand Jury's responsibility to investigate even the Supreme Court should the people believe that the Supreme Court is corrupt or has done wrong? The supreme court has done wrong.
"I will not argue the legality of what the Supreme Court has done. What I will do is work with the legislature to remove all restrictions on the power and access to the Grand Jury and open all Grand Jury records past, present and future to the people of Alaska. Also, as governor, I will call for an open investigation of Alaskas Law Department."
